Boxes, Offices, Hospitality,
Commentary, Studios in Stadia
Stadium Accommodation
Big Stands
Where a terrace is big enough, we can easily build useful floors underneath.
Big Stands with Boxes
A box level at the rear produces excellent viewing accommodation and
permits much more available useful space underneath.
Small Stands with Lean-to
A lean to is a cheap and good way to produce accommodation with a small
stand.
A box level behind a stand produces an economic structure and more and
better accommodation.
Small Stands Raised
Some people plan to provide ground floor accommodation by raising the
terrace by a couple of metres. This leads to a bad grandstand with high
obtrusive front barriers which obstruct the view, expensive stairs which
also obstruct, un suitable disabled locations, and huge extra expense.
A grandstand terrace is an expensive way to provide a ceiling for a room.
Please avoid this, by using a lean to behind.
Suspended Boxes / Studios
Substantial studios and boxes can be suspended under the rafters.
One major club even planned to have a full scale restaurant up in the
rafters, but unfortunately, this was a pie in the sky. There are up to
34 international TV studios in the Doug Ellis stand at Aston Villa.
Corner Vertical Grandstanding
The North East and North West corners easily provide excellent in fill
boxes, balconies, restaurants, banqueting suites, commentary boxes, interview
rooms etc.
Uses for Stadia Accommodation
Accommodation in grandstands can be used for hospitality suites such
as restaurants, ball rooms, balconies, banqueting suites, and bars, or
for commentary boxes, TV studios, interview rooms, office space, board
rooms, conferencing, video conferencing, shops, or as public facilities
such as hotels, and gymnasiums.
