Grandstand and Stadium Terracing
and Hospitality Boxes
Terrace Variations
Standing/Seated and Dual Use
A standing terrace incorporates crush barriers and exit gangways. These
are built into the REIDsteel stand so as to waste no standing spaces.
If made in REIDsteel Terraces then they can be dismountable and relocatable.
Such terraces can be open or covered.
A REIDsteel standing terrace is dual use. Because of its unique design,
it can be changed to all seater simply by removing the crush barriers.
Most grandstands are designed all seater from the start.
Simple Terrace
A simple terrace goes all the way from the toe, at-or below ground level,
to the back of the grandstand.
This is the most economic sort of stand to make, to run, and to maintain.
Have a good reason to diverge from this style.
The slope of the simple terrace probably varies paraboliclly to maintain
viewing standards throughout.
Simple Terrace with rear box zone
A simple terrace may have a box level at the rear...
Multi Tier with overhangs
If space and styling requirements dictate, a 2 tier or multi tier stand
can be designed. The gain in the number of seats is actually quite small,
but the increase in height, cost and running cost is greater.
Multi Tier with Mid Terrace Box
REIDsteel can design and build you hospitality suites and boxes. A good
reason to select multi tier grandstands is to incorporate mid-terrace
hospitality boxes and suites, when there is a market for them.
Multi Tier with Mid Terrace Box and Rear Box zone
Some multi tier stands can incorporate REIDsteel mid terrace hospitality
suites as well as the rear box level.
Wedge Infill
Corners of ball games grandstands can be filled in with a triangle, or
segments, or even a ¼ circle, with seating terraces. But remember such
seats cost 2 or 3 times as much as the straight runs, and are the least
popular seats. Do you really want to pay 3 times as much for seats no-one
wants? It is much better to make another couple of rows on the other stands.
In cricket or athletics, the angle between stands is 45° or even 36°,
so the wedge is different. In temperate climates it can be in filled with
seats. In hot tropical climates, it is best left open, or fitted with
balconies and verandas.
Suitable verandas and balconies, with large hospitality and office areas
behind, can easily be built in the wedges between two simple grand stands.
Rather than waste money on expensive but unwanted infill seats in the
corners, why not build highly desirable vertical grandstands, with restaurants,
ball rooms, balconies, boxes all with a good view over the park?
Mid Terrace Veranda
A veranda can be set into a terrace, providing excellent mid terrace
access from the executive suites, ideal for a popular chairman and his
VIP guests who want full participation with the fans. See the Notts County
Derek Pavis Stand.
Disabled Spectators
REIDsteel can build in the disabled zones, either at the toe or in mid
terrace - or anywhere. In mid terrace, anywhere above ground level, REIDsteel
can help design safe and cost effective access and exits for disabled
fans.
